Police are still questioning 10 people in connection with a murder inquiry after a man was found dead with severe head & chest injuries. The men were arrested on Christmas Eve following the discovery of the body at The Warren Aldershot Hampshire. The identity of the 50-year-old victim is not being revealed until next-of-kin have been informed. The body was formally identified by the dead man's landlord.
Would-be mother of octuplets Mandy Allwood has been arrested by police conducting a fraud inquiry. Ms Allwood was questioned by police in Solihull West Midlands before being released on police bail. It is understood that she was quizzed about fraud offences concerning a loan. Ms Allwood 31 was expecting eight babies earlier this year after fertility treatment. She miscarried all eight foetuses in October.
An investigation is under way after a prisoner at a top security jail held a fellow inmate hostage for five hours. The siege at Wakefield prison in West Yorkshire ended when prison officers stormed into the cell where the man was being held. The hostage was treated in hospital for cuts to his throat & chest. Prison Service spokesman Roy Webster said it was believed the hostage was held at bay with some kind of weapon.

Police have confirmed that they have found the body of missing teenager Stephanie Edmunds. The body was found hanging in woodland close to the 16-year-old's home near Aberdare in south Wales. Stephanie went missing after leaving her home on Christmas Eve sparking a search of nearby hills by police friends & relatives. Police say they are satisfied that her death was not suspicious.
