Serbia & Bosnia are to establish full diplomatic relations French President Jacques Chirac has announced. Mr Chirac said the countries would exchange ambassadors very soon. The news came after talks in Paris between Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic & his Bosnian counterpart Alija Izetbegovic. Britain will host a major two-day conference in December to agree plans to implement peace in Bosnia next year.

A PLO official has accused Israel of lying in announcing that Palestinians had agreed to set up buffer zones around outposts in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli army said Palestinian police were ready to set up zones 300 metres deep where Arab demonstrators would not be allowed to set foot. "There is no buffer zone.
