John Major has "given up" on the Euro- sceptic wing within the Conservative party Paddy Ashdown has said. "It now remains to be seen whether they have given up on him " the Liberal Democrat leader added. The BSC will stage a seminar next year for broadcasters to discuss TV violence And there will be action to ensure proper standards & improve viewers' information about programmes.
Russian Foreign Minister Yevgeny Primakov has hinted he wants to begin a dialogue which would lead to a new understanding with Nato. Speaking after a meeting with his Nato counterparts in Brussels he said there had been an offer to hold further talks on matters of concern to Russia. The first major National Lottery grants to charities specialising in medical research have been announced.
