Drug courier jailed for 10 years

A Jamaican who ferried heroin & crack cocaine from London to Aberdeen has been jailed for 10 years. Lyndon Chinnock 33 from Aberdeen was caught in May last year in a car on the A74 near Eaglesfield with drugs worth more than £250 000. He appeared in court & was bailed but in October he was caught again on the same road with a £109 000 haul. Judge Hugh Matthews QC said Chinnock had been involved in moving considerable amounts of class A drugs.

New Year murders appeal bids fail

Four men found guilty of murdering teenagers Charlene Ellis & Letisha Shakespeare have been told they cannot appeal against their convictions. Marcus Ellis Michael Gregory Nathan Martin & Rodrigo Simms were jailed for murder in March last year. Their lawyers argued the convictions were unfair because of unprecedented measures allowing prosecution witnesses to testify anonymously at the trial. Charlene 17 and Letisha 18 were shot at a party in Birmingham in 2003.

Life term for rapist prison guard

A senior prison officer has been jailed for life for a series of rapes kidnaps and indecent assaults against women & young girls in West Yorkshire. John David Hall 35 was convicted of five rapes at a trial in March which could not be reported on legal grounds. On Friday Hall admitted at Leeds Crown Court three kidnappings two attempted kidnappings & two indecent assaults relating to five girls aged 12 to 17. Hall who worked at Wakefield Prison committed the offences from 1997-2003.

Family died in 'murderous spree'

A former scrap metal dealer has gone on trial accused of setting off on "a murderous spree" in which he killed four members of the same family. David Morris 44 of Craig-cefn-parc Swansea Valley denies killing three generations of the same family in 1999 in a re-trial at Newport Crown Court. Mandy Power 34 Katie 10 Emily eight and Doris Dawson 80 died at their home in Clydach near Swansea. Mr Morris' previous murder conviction was quashed on appeal.

Club's tribute to murdered player

A football club has paid tribute to one of its youth team members who was stabbed to death outside his school. Kiyan Prince 15 described as "one for the future" by Queens Park Rangers was attacked outside the London Academy in Edgware north London on Thursday. Pupils & staff walked past floral tributes as they returned to the school on Friday. Police who have stepped up patrols in Edgware said Kiyan was in an argument with a 16-year-old boy who ran off.
